Common questions
Where does the data come from?
The U.S. Department of Labor publishes Form 5500, 5500-SF, and 5500-EZ filings under ERISA. We download the bulk feed daily. We clean it and add peer benchmarks. The data is public. We make it readable.
How does the free trial work?
Pro is free for 7 days and needs no card to start. Add a card before the trial ends to keep Pro at $49 a month. If you add no card, the trial ends and your account stays free. One free trial per account.
Is there an annual price?
Yes. Pro is $490 a year, billed once, which is two months free. The annual plan starts paid on day one, with no trial.
Can I search without an account?
Yes. Search, filters, and plan pages are open with no account and no monthly limit. Pro adds ten years of history, peer benchmarks, provider and welfare analytics, fund lineups, saved searches with weekly alerts, PDF downloads, and CSV exports.
How many rows can I export?
Pro exports up to 50,000 rows per search-results CSV, with no monthly limit on the number of exports. Pro also includes 10 full state files a month, from any dataset. The 20-plan sample file for each state needs no account.
Who gets the plan holdings files?
Each state has two holdings files: the funds every plan holds, and the lineup changes since its prior filing. The 20-plan sample needs no account. The full files are part of Pro and count toward its 10 state files a month. Both files for one state count once.
What does bulk data cost?
A one-time national file starts at $1,500: every plan, or every plan's fund lineup, in one file. A licence adds monthly updates, the lineup change feed and seats for your team, quoted to fit. Tell us what you need on /data/custom.
I need Pro for several people. What do I do?
Each person can start their own Pro plan. For five or more people, or one bill for a team, email hello@planoptica.com.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. No contract. Cancel from your account billing page. You keep access through the period you already paid for.
How fresh is the data?
We check the DOL bulk file each night. DOL republishes it about once a month. We rebuild the warehouse within a couple of hours of a republish. Holdings files update nightly as new filings arrive.
